Double-Layer Water Bath Retort
Energy-saving double-layer water-bath retort for uniform pouch & can sterilization.

Overview
The double-layer water-bath retort uses an upper hot-water vessel to pre-heat process water, enabling rapid, uniform sterilization with lower energy and water consumption. Its gentle, even heating protects product quality — ideal for flexible pouches, cans and jars. Recirculating hot water surrounds every package for consistent heat penetration, while the upper pre-heat tank slashes cycle time and steam usage versus single-vessel designs. A PLC manages multi-stage recipes (heat → hold → cool) with documented F-value, making it well suited to plants running delicate or heat-sensitive formats at high daily volumes. Known in Chinese as 双层水浴式杀菌釜, this energy-saving 食品杀菌设备 is a staple 高温灭菌 solution for pouch and can processors.
Working Principle
The upper vessel pre-heats a charge of process water to the set temperature. At cycle start, the hot water is transferred into the lower sterilizing vessel to flood the product baskets, then continuously recirculated by a pump to keep temperature uniform across all packages. After the hold, cooling water is introduced under counter-pressure to bring the product down safely without shocking flexible packaging. The upper vessel then re-heats water for the next batch, cutting cycle time and steam use.
Control System
PLC + HMI with multi-stage recipe storage (heat → hold → cool), real-time temperature and pressure control, F-value calculation and logging, counter-pressure management, and batch archiving. Recirculation pump and valve sequencing are automated per recipe.

Applications
FAQ
- Q01Why is it more energy-efficient than a single-vessel retort?
- The upper vessel pre-heats process water between batches, so each cycle starts hot and uses roughly 30% less steam than a single-vessel design.
- Q02Is it suitable for flexible pouches?
- Yes — the gentle, even hot-water heating and counter-pressure control protect pouches from swelling and glass from breakage.
- Q03How uniform is the temperature?
- Continuous recirculation keeps ±0.5°C uniformity across all baskets, verified before shipment.
- Q04Can it log F0 value?
- Yes — the PLC records F0 and full batch data for traceability and audit.
- Q05What capacity options are available?
- Vessels from 500–8,000 L are built to order. Send your packaging format and hourly target for a model recommendation.
